When I brake, coming to a stop or even just a rolling stop, I'm hearing a clunk and sounds like something, either brake or rear-end or transfer case, is sticking. If I let up on the brake and start out slow it often doesn't happen, but usually does. Not sure what could be causing it, as the brakes are all good. I'm gonna replace the transfer case fluid just to be safe, because a friend of mine with an F150 had a similar problem. Mine's a 97 XLT 4x4, 4.0L w/5-spd auto. Bought it used from a kid who didn't do any maintenance on it or have it done by someone who could. Already replaced front U-joints & one front axle, door switch & dome light (he removed it), EGR valve & Idle Air control. Next will be the clock spring (horn & cruise) & multi-use switch for the wipers. I'm hoping to tow a small trailer up north in a couple of weeks and don't want to tear anything up. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
