Okay so i have a couple questions
1 can you use the stock power streering gear box and pitman arm assembly?

2 What length break lines are you using?

3 If i went with a full width axle would you have to move the coil spring pearches in on the axle or would you make the buckets stick out farther on the frame?

4 If i bought deavers for the rear what size do you think i should go?

What kind of a vehicle? What other mods do you have? Won't deaver make leafs to your specs. Make sure you get the springs you want for hauling additional gear in the bed for camping/wheeling. For brake lines, I am using jeep lines but only because I am running chevy outters for the flattop knuckles. Honestly, I would never space the buckets out on the frame. The frames like to bend in that area anyways up and down. Additional torque outside the frame rails will make this worse.

With proper reinforcement the frame will be fine with spacing the buckets out up to 2" or so (you're right to the outside of the very rigid engine crossmember here as well).

The axle you use will dictate whether you can move the springs inward on the axle or not. I would space the buckets out regardless though, as through proper selection of your coil springs, vehicle stability will be better, together with having a better ride quality.

Yes, the stock steering gear will work fine.

Brake lines you'll have to measure for after you get the axle under there and weight sitting on the springs.

For those of you that have done the swap what coils did you use and what size tire are you running. In the tech library they say to use the 3.5 james duff or bcbronco coils. On the full width D44 axle are the coil spring mounts welded bolted or cast onto the axle if it fluctuates through the years please let me know which years are which.

'77 & older D44 has welded mounts, '78,'79 cast mounts. The later axles sometimes can be had cheaper though, so I'd probably be looking at those for your full-width swap.

I have a D44 axle that's out of a 77 ford F-250 so the leaf perches should be welded right, i should be able to tell when i look at it right its in storage right now. Does anyone know where i can get the coil perches from and if they are weld on or bolt on, wait im confused where does the coil mount on half ton D44's to the axle its self right? Then you have to get the c-wedges and weld them on the axle then you can run the stock radius arms right.

Oh you already have a F-250 axle... Yep, leaf springs. The perches are welded.

If you buy C-wedges aftermarket, they would of course be weld-on mounts. The coil mounts on top of the radius arm at the axle.

That '77 axle isn't a lo-pinion closed knuckle axle is it? (junk)

Its low pinion but its open knuckle it is the weld on leaf perches though. So if i were to use this axle cut off the perch on passenger side get the c-wedges weld the passenger side on the the same side as the leaf perch was then put the other wedges between the knuckle and the diff would that work or no?
Come on guys i know someone has done the full width swap on the rangers ive seen it done i just need to know how you did it pics would help to.
Would somthing like this work?

Have you looked through the Xtreme suspension section? You'll probably find more info about the suspension itself (rather than the axle) there instead of here.
