Some relief for SVT raptor related envy

Im not sure if anyone has posted this up yet, but I couldn't find anything in the search.

Someone wrote a very good post on a forum I've never heard of, but he and a bunch of his buddies all managed to bend their frames.

I wonder if they were running a standard f150 frame. I could be totally wrong, but it looked like they had just bolted a bunch of nice suspension stuff onto an f150, and put that awesome engine in it. I dont remember any marketing about the frame.

Anyways, if your thinking about getting one, you might reconsider if you plan on driving it like advertised.
 
I think that is bullshit that Ford refuses to cover that under their warranty. And simply stating that having a professional driver behind the wheel prevents the frame from bending is simply ridiculous. That is how the truck is advertised being driven. That is like someone buying a Wrangler and then getting their warranty voided for driving offroad.

Sorry for the rant but that pisses me off.
 
ya this got posted up a while ago, I read the title to this thread and thought maybe there had been a resolution or something.
 
Actually I have heard that the standard F-150 frame takes it better than the Raptor's.

I would rather have a regular F-150 by far anyways. The Raptor looks neat, but all the extra frills are rather worthless to me.

The 6.2 is also available in the Lariet, which may even be cheaper than a Raptor. The EB gives it a run for its money at double the milage though...
 
I am with Ford on this one, That is just blatant abuse of the truck outside of that its designed to do. While its advertised as a off road ready truck, its still a factory production truck, and not a full out race truck, so there are limitations to what it can do.

Seriously? These guys were doing 120mph and taking huge kickers at high speeds. Its a FACTORY TRUCK. Its not a trophy truck. Yes, it can take more abuse than a regular truck, but that doesnt mean its invincible. The trucks are made to be daily drivers with awesome off road capabilities. There is a limit to those capabilities though. Would having a professional driver might have prevented the frame from being bent? Maybe, Maybe not. A professional driver though might understand the trucks limitations, and therefor not abuse to the level these guys did. To me, this is like buying a Wrangler and rolling it, and then getting pissed because they wont warranty it.

Bottom line, every vehicle has limitations. Its the DRIVERS responsibility to know those limitations and drive responsibly.

And because they know it might void the warrenty... the line they feed Ford may or may not be true.

We get that stuff all the time at work, we are not even a dealer. Near as I can tell it is just to save face. They brag to their buddies they turned their tractor up to double the original hp, pulled x big of peice of equipment in x number of gears higher than normal. Then they have it hauled into the shop with the paint burned off the block and the engine or trans slagged "I was just going along nice and easy and it quit for no reason..." :icon_rofl:

when it went to f.p. they made some adjustments...looks like a play out of the gm book in the rear frame compromise situation.

regardless....theres nothing like it....nothing stronger...


and ford should be offering some bridge work imo.
 
it appears those guys may have discovered the threshold of the rear crash crush zone. only read the first page, was any resolution offered?

I'm mostly amused, the people selling these make such a big deal about them. They are cool trucks, but the coolest and toughest trucks are "built not bought," from cheapthrillb2's sig.

Thats interesting, although given some wide open desert I would probably drive the raptor a little differently than the standard f150.

in the conditions of this situation.....a factory pick-up anything american produced would have broke in half....making it literally a half ton:D......

150 is tough...its not raptor tough...its a frequency situation for this failure...and not acceptable imo....for it to go uncorrected from this point forward...

if you buy a truck like this, and use it to this degree, you better have the capacity to understand it will need to be fixed periodically due to the use described....

because even trophy trucks need to be constantly massaged.

to be dismissive of the trucks capacity because of this situation, or even remotely draw it up as comparable to a normal truck ranks up as, patently ridiculous, as it can get...and a direct inability to understand the sheer scope of the level of abuse involved here.

Exactly. In the advertising vidoes it is shown to take a couple jumps. That is not nearly the same as an 1/8 mile or more of braking bumps plus numerous jumps done by people that have never taken on that kind of terrain before. SVT/Ford should have boxed the frame, but then it would probably not have passed crash test ratings and would have been sold as an ohv only truck. Which would have made it worthless to sell in basically. It still looks like the frame bent the wrong way if it was caused by bottoming out though. That is puzzling...............
