since I am just going back through my photobucket these are all in reverse order, but here is my skidplate,

I didn't have a big sheet of 1/4" so I welded some 4"x1/4" together and then used our swag press brake for the part that goes below my cases, then I put 3/16" on the flat part so it is 3/8" thick there, I've sat like a turtle on a fencepost on it and it doesn't bend or flex at all.

here is my cage, it is actually only half done, I have the front halo bar bent up but I am going through the cab and out the front, then the A pillars will go into the fender and down to my sliders.

I rock a dana 30 (for now) and I try to wheel pretty hard, so I needed to reinforce the axle tube, so I cut a piece of pipe lengthwise and cut some windows in it, then welded it in, I also built a stouter panhard mount and reinforced the C's on it.

until I find the pics of my sliders and some of the SAS stuff that should about do it. Critique is always welcome, I'm pretty thick skinned. Thanks for checking out my junk

here are a few of my rear bumper and the taillight mod I made, I broke a rear tail light out and I didn't want to spend 40$ for a new one, couple of trailer tail lights and what I like to call a "mini bob". I lost 4" or so out of the length on the rear.

here is my crossmember, it sits much flatter than the stocker, first thing we ever bent on the swag press brake, that is a bitchin tool,

this is by far my favorite mod, the wheeling around here is big technical boulder crawling, you need a ton of rocker clearance, so I went up pretty high when I cut the rockers out, I used 2x4x3/16" tube and 1 3/4" hrew for the supports

started by cutting up to the body line with a sawzall, and then I put the tube in place and tacked it to the body,

started putting the front and rear supports in, there are 4 in total on each side, with a piece of 3/16" plate on the frame to spread the load out.

I had cut a little farther in than I wanted to but it all worked out, lot of patching with some 16gauge to get a solid floor back

and I ended up with a nice sturdy place for rocks to smash into

looks good dude, nice work. i've been toying around with doing the same thing to my tail lights, just couldnt think of a way to do it. i have a top still, but it gives me a few ideas. i'm also rocking a D30, havent been wrenching on it much lately. i just got diagnosed with black rifle disease, so my time and money are going to that lol.

yeah they are a lot cheaper to replace and a lot harder to break, my cousin did the same thing but used a ranger tail gate. and the top half of his bII hatch, I thought it turned out pretty bitchin overall. I could find some pictures if you are interested.

That black rifle disease is tough to cure, and it isn't cheap right now either haha. I sold a bushmaster AR I had for 1600$ in january, I thought the guy must have been crazy for paying that (I bought it for 650), but people get all panicked and spend more dinero than they should.

yeah man, toss up some pics if you have them. this website is full of pic whores lol.

if i had a black rifle during the panic, i probably would have sold it too. people are so dumb sometimes. i knew it would die down eventually, so i just patiently waited. it's pretty much back down to normal now. i've got $785 in mine right now including magazines.

I like what you have done to ur BII. Do you have any pictures of when you chopped the top off? It looks like you have finished the top of the sides but I can't tell about the cab. I'm hoping to cut mine in the near future.

I talked to him and what he actually did was take the back corners out of a 69 f100 pickup bed and graft them in, they look just like my trailer taillights lol. I was selling steel mags for 30$ each, kinda felt like a dick about it but if people are willing to pay it I figured why not.

I finished the bed rails with some 1x1" angle, pretty easy, the top I just welded to the inside support so it wouldn't rattle around, I figured I didn't need to make it beautiful bk I would have a cage in front of it anyway. the sides I just welded the seam. I don't think I have any pics of anything besides putting the angle in. The crappiest part about cutting off the top was getting the glass out, I fought with one side for an hour or 2 and broke it accidentally so I just broke the other side out. I wasn't going to keep them and it was easier to just sweep up the glass. I'll see what I can find picture wise

here is a pic of how much I took out of the rocker,

here is the side after I welded in the angle,

before I did that I had just cut the lip that held the glas every 8" or so and folded it over, I actually cut my hand on it once though

Great fab, minus that crossmember. I don't know if it's up to the job. Flat steel that's bent like that is almost always weakened. Other than that, keep up the great work.

I see where u welded the inner skin to the angle iron...did u weld the outside skin to it also? I think u done a hell-of-nice-job on the chop. Looks very clean.

I've had it on there for a little over a year, the bent part is actually stronger. It has bent, but on the flat part on the passenger side right next to where it attaches to the frame. I keep thinking I need to get in there and do some gussets. not sure what i'm gonna do on that flat part, I've toyed with the idea of another piece of 1/4" on top and making it double shear but it would be a bitch to get in and out with the driveshaft in.

I cut out the whole top and set the angle in so it was flush with the outside skin and welded it in fully and ground it smooth, the inside is welded in a couple spots just to hold it in there.
