My credo
I need more sleep.
I have on of those little scanner devices that you hook up to your OBD II, and they can check codes, and give realtime info. I was checking out how much HP I had and the most was 265 at 6k rpm. I know around 5k it makes 207. This is running the intake, exhaust, and premium fuel with octane booster. I'm not sure the scanner is 100% accurate, and obviously it isn't make that at the wheels. But I though that was interesting, the problem is, its really unusable. 6k is redline and really you are never at or close to redline. I'm not sure that bolt on power mods is the way to go, but I think a nice set of headers would help.

Premium fuel does not make more power and is inappropriate for use in an engine with less than 12.5:1 compression.

Also more expensive for 91 octane.

for a street driven vehicle, torque numbers are what count.

I really don't know what there is to do to get more low end torque. The intake didn't really do anything except add 10hp probably less (and keeps things clean instead of a dirt box) but the only thing I could see HP for would be high speeds, except its a truck, and isn't a sports car.

Torque can be freed up with gearing, or you can get a stroker kit. If you check out Mustang V6 performance you can find some good stuff for the 4.0 SOHC.

The vehicle companies are pretty good nowadays getting all the horsepower [torque] out of their motors at regular driving rpm's. It's not like it used to be where you throw on headers and tune the carb and add 50 extra horse. EFI is already very efficient and the engines are tuned to get the best mileage. It really depends on what you want to do. More horsepower/torque usually means less mileage. Is that what you really want? How much driving do you do where you really, actually need that extra oomph? Perhaps a nitrous kit would be money better spent.

I was looking at that on Tom Moranas website, it looks cool, but is pretty expensive.

Unless premium is the only fuel available without that friggen ethanol in it.

Good God, all those years we ran "ethyl" in our rides that had 10 points of compression or less, we would advance the timing and enjoy all of the power of our, wait for it, CARBURETTED ENGINES, without the death rattle of low octane fuel.

Coyotes get a noticeable perk up in power and mileage running premium over regular with 11:1. Compared to anything Ford graced a RBV with the don't really play fair though.

If you don't think the bolt ons are worth it put her back to stock and retest.
