solinoid clicking wont start when crossing terminals.

Hi Im new to this forum, looks like a great forum. I have a starting issue with my 88 ranger 2.9v6 . I swamped my truck in a big water hold and now the solinoid wont trurn the starter over. all I get is clicking. I checked my connections and it looks fine. I even tried to jump the connections but still the same thing. the truck will jump start and run. but I get a battary light. any ideas. thanks.

does your battery have a full charge??

wouldn't hurt to get your alternator checked...if nothing else cleaned from the inside out as well as your starter. Lord only knows what crud got washed in them from your "deep water adventure"

thanks for this info. I took the starter off and hooked it up to a 12 volt source and tried to get it to spin and nothing. I also checked my wires again on the battery and cleaned them which may fix the charging issue I have. but I will also check the alternator. if you think of anything else let me know.

starter was gone. alternator was gone. truck is now running fine.
