Easiest way I have Seen is Using A Hp D30 With Leaf Springs , That being said , A D30 Is about the Same Strength as a D35 , You Might be better off Building your TTB For Better Flex and Maybe Cut/Turned Beams and Extended/Dropped Radius Arms ? .

If you are going through all the trouble, why not go to a D44, maybe an Early Bronoco type, coils with radius arms.

I believe James Duff has some sort of kit or at least a lot of pieces that will work on the '97 back.

There is no "easy" way to Straight axle a ranger.

The point that you had to ASK that question simply states you are not ready to undertake the task. I would find a comfy chair, and sit down and read, read, and while you're at it, read some more. THEN, when you think you understand the complexities of setting up a properly built suspension, go out to the garage and learn to weld ( or get one of you buddies to for you ).

You can't just jump on a forum and ask a VERY basic question about a complex modification. That's like asking a carpenter how to build a house.

It's not even as strong as the D35. It's going backwards in almost every way imaginable.

Open the tailgate and throw it in. :icon_idea:

James Duff was making a bolt in kit but I don't see it on their website, you might call them and see what became of it.

Using their SAS Ranger track bar bracket, and their revised coil buckets that accept EB coils in addition to regular Ranger coils, their James Duff fullsize long arms, it is NEARLY bolt on.

Only stuff to fab is the steering, track bar and some kind of transmission crossmember.

Take a look at my build thread (link in sig) and see what it took me to put a D30 under my ranger.

This is the only person that has answered your question. Look at his thread, it is a good and easy to understand build.
And if you are gana use a HP Dana 30 DONT USE LEAF SPRINGS!! The axles are already set up for coil springs and so is your truck. It would just make for more fabrication you have to do if you use leaf springs.

But James Duff does make a kit for the dana 44.
Follow this link if you wana go that route.

But you really need to do lots of research before you start.
You will also need to do some fabrication on just about every route but this one.

It is complete bolt on. He is a member I think but you will have to find him.

It seems as if more and more people are asking the same question lately. "How do I SAS my truck?" Its a question that does not have a single answer. There are lots of ways to do it. Generally, IMO, the person asking the question has not done any research, nor do they want to. When the generic How do I SAS my truck question pops up, I ask myself what do they actually need a SAS for anyway? Are they ever going to do swap or will they lose interest and never post again? 99% of the time I think people just see a lot of SAS trucks on the site and think its only way to get some big ole mud tires on their truck. There are reasons some SAS and some dont.

End Rant.

^^^ Ditto on PlumCrazy…

When I posted to this thread I was trying to help him make a more infomed decision on whether oe not to even use a D30 for the SAS.
All comments were intended to help not to hinder the OP in deciding.

I have not done the SAS to my truck yet, hope to, but in my time I have investigated a lot of opinions, a lot of sites on the subject, looked at a lot of builds, looked into kits and talked to a number of Shops in my area about the swap. The subject was what was best to do and all have said the same thing, unless you build a D30 you will be limited to a smaller tire, low power engines and if wheeling, expect to repair the axle more often than a D44.

So what a lot of us do on a Site is try to transfer what ever we have learned and hope that someone else may benefit from that knowledge.

We are not trying to be a PITA just trying to help the guy out.

And the OP was
What's the easiest way to put a jeep front solid axle in.?
, not how to install a D30.

Why not use leaf springs? I have them on mine. They work fine. Granted it is a CAD axle minus the CAD part of it and a full axle. Good enough for what I do with it. Not all Dana 30 axles are setup as coil srung axles. They went coils after 97 and were Leafs from 95 and down. Yeah the truck is set up as coils but it isn't hard to make it leafs either.
You are mistaken about the HP 30's found under jeeps. The 97 and up wranglers (YJ) that have the Dana 30 are not HP (high pinion) axles they are low pinion axles. The high pinion axles are found under Cherokees (XJ) and are sometimes harder to aquire. All 97 and up Dana 30's do not have the CAD (Central Axle Disconnect) System.
