Solid Axle Swap on an 04 XLT

i currently have an 04 XLT that I wanna do a solid axle swap on when I get back from Afghanistan. I've read that D44s are common to use but what else would I have to get as far as steering components go? How hard would it be to do?
 
You'll need to mount a steering box to your frame, since your truck has rack and pinion now. A toyota steering box mounted outside of the framerail works, I myself have modified the inside of the framerail to accept a early ranger box, but I would go toyota box if I had to do it again.
