I have a super cab ranger with a winch bumper up front. I have superlift 5.5" drop brackets and skyjacker 6" lift coils currently. Im extending the radius arms and wanted to do softer coils and f250 shock mounts or a custom dual shock setup to help aid in the flex.

So my question is what coils, early bronco or jeep, would be the way to go. And what additional modifications to the coil buckets etc. would be needed to get around 5.5-6" lift??????????? Ive looked at several threads on the subject already.

get some 8 inch coils from skyjacker so the extra weight in the front

He wants SOFTER coils.

Unfortunately soft coils and 6" of lift don't go together so well unless you've thoroughly planned out your custom steering linkage...

You got something set up for that?

Yes softer coils is what im after. As far as steering, I have the superlift super runner kit which needs modified to fit the 6" lift. From the manufacturer they're only good for up to 4" lift kits. I figure I would need to drop the center link between 2-4 inches?

You could install some late '70s F-150 springs. They will support your weight and give you good articulation. Look at some of the post by Joel (CopyKat). He has gotten good results from them.

It will take some modifications to your coil buckets and a custom mount on the beam. It would be best to swap in the '79 style coil buckets and run the F-250 shock mount.

For a 6" lift, the centerlink will need to come down a full four inches for it to work properly with flexier coils. I doubt the Superlift idler arm with it's bushings is going to tolerate that well. You may be able to swap the bushings on it's upper mount out for a couple needle bearings, and then beef the hell out of everything, although it would probably be easier to just build a whole new custom idler arm for it that's mounted to the frame instead of the crossmember, and has bushings up top that are spaced much further apart so it can handle the load a 4" dropped centerlink will put on it.

Coils, you'll probably want to be looking at early Bronco or "flex-rated" F-150 coils. You'll need something around 300PPI to support a Supercab Ranger well.
I'd be looking for something with a free length around 23" in a 300PPI coil for your truck.

That sounds like a lot of hacking up of the steering, im not quite ready to do that. If I sacrificed a little on the lift, say around 5" I think I'd be able to drop the steering a couple of inches and leave the idler arm alone. (exept maybe a gusset or two) Maybe the xj skyjacker coils?

At 4" lift, the Superlift steering should be good with a 2" centerlink drop.
A few gussets added to it's idlerarm (and bracket too) should be fine. Then if you want, throw a 2" body lift on there to make up for the difference in lift.

XJ coils (SJ's are 240lb) will probably be too soft for a Supercab, I'd be looking for something closer to 300lbs.

I've got 6" Skyjacker coils under my Ranger now. Really stiff for the TTB, will be like rocks when I go with the D30. I also have XJ lift coils, 6" and 4". Will see how close to current ride height the 6" coils are. Just looking fro softer springs for articulation.
