Who likes to write and what kind of stuff? Stories? Poetry?

I used to do a lot of writing, always trying to put together a book but never actually finished any books that I started, I have a ton of half-finished stuff. Writing for school always came easy for me but in the past couple years I kind of let my writing fall by the wayside. Up until a couple weeks ago I hadn't done much of anything but now I'm thinking of getting back into it since it was something I enjoyed doing.

Actually what kind of spurred me back into writing was coming across a couple books I did for school long ago. Both were short books, one was a fictional kind of children's/teens book and the other was a picture book on off-roading. After thinking about it, I'd like to reproduce both of them and put them out for sale just for the fun of it. I also have a couple other ideas for books in the works, but I'm trying not to bite off too much at once since I'm still having a little trouble getting things together for reproducing those first couple books (most of the problem is with the off-roading book, trying to find who has the rights to some of the images I used in it).

I also have a collection of some poetry I did at one point. Never really was much into poetry but I hit a period where it just kind of came to me. Always wanted to publish it all, but I can't decide if I'm happy with what I have or if I want to add a little more before throwing it out there for publication. Most of it is kind of dark stuff, I had one college professor read it and ask if I was ok because there was an undercurrent of sort of depression/suicide to it. It's just what happened to spill onto the paper.

I wrote a book once about a family trying to cope with the death of their son.

I can identify with that.....well, not writing about it....but trying to stay sane while going thru it.

I'm more into copying....I've taken the oldest Bibles that I could find and combine modern language with original terms from the older versions...then I write down the more accurate sentences:

For instance----the newest to oldest form of the 6th Commandment throughout history

"You shall not murder" (modern versions of the Bible)

"Thou shall not murder" (1300s A.D to 20th century)

"You shall not kill" (earlier version 1000 A.D.)

"You shall not slay" (pre 1000 A.D.)

"You shall not shed innocent blood" ( 300 A.D.)

"You shall not shed the blood of another person" (original version in Book of Genesis)

In 5,000 years of recorded History, we have come from the original statement... "You shall not shed the blood of another person (Cain shed the blood of his brother Abel)" to the modern version of "You shall not murder"("Kill only if you are able to justify the act"). Even in earliest history, the Jewish soldiers who recieved the Original Commandments were directed not to enter into their own cities/homes for a certain number of days after returning from war/battle because they broke the original Commandment.

So.....the original statement You shall not shed the blood of another person" is the accurate statement/Commandment.

I thought poetry was supposed to be about depression and suicide. It's always made me want to kill myself.

I have a lot of sad and messed up poems that I've written but I also have some that are happy and content. I haven't written in many years though. It was something I did to get through some rough times.

My first poem ever was actually published...in my school yearbook. It was kind of deep with undercurrents of love and admiration...

Hello little frog,
you were once a little pollywog
you tried to jump,
but you went kerplunk,
out in the nice cool water...

I had kids lining up for autographs for years...

Anyway, I've always thought about writing a book too and self published my works on lung cancer. I still have a copy...but I could not get it published...didn't really finish it because the one I published was a sample to show possible sponsors...nobody took me up on it.

But I'd like to write fiction. Only problem is I'm finding there are so many good books to read and every time I read one I have to scratch off that whole thought process because it's been done. I do have a long story about my experience as a caregiver that I think would make a great story...I will probably forget most of it by the time I actually try to sit down and write it.

Here is one of my more off-the-wall poems....

Rat Writ

To serve a rat a writ
Is to serve a writ indeed

For a rat will not heed
The writ indeed

A rat cannot read
And has no need

But the writ must be read
And the rat should be dead

I only remember one poem......

"well................it's one.....two....three....what are we fighting for...."

(wait...................................i didn't write it.....nevermind)

I write a lot of short stories. They never really go anywhere, but I like to re read them.

I wrote a few books. I know what it's like to go from start to finish. I would help someone get a book completed. You have to be willing to accept criticism, though. I love new ideas and would love to see you complete yours. But if you suck, I'll let you know. If there is something good in your work, I'll help you draw it out.

I don't mince words. No time.

I do that too, it is fun to go back and look them over.

I love to write songs and I do poetry as well. I pay piano, keyboard, cornet (trumpet) and the guitar (acoustic and electric).

I play Sax and Violins...no, wait, that's SEX and VIOLENCE...a new video game for old folks...while Aerosmith's "Dream On" plays repeatedly in the background

I love writing. I am a freelace writer as well. I write articles and poetry both.
