yeah im just not sure what to search for to be honest. like ive googled 2.8l v6 engine for sale and havent got much back on it

Its getting quite rare to see gen 1 RBVs in junk yards. Have you considered bumping up to a 2.9L? They are a bit more plentiful.

I ordered a long block from napa years ago when I rebuilt mine although looking back I wish I had done the 4.0 swap instead. Might want to take a look at that but that's just my $.02

Dont bother with a 2.8 to 2.9, go right to the 4.0 if your going to swap.
