It depends. How much do you want to spend and what do you want to do with it?

Mild off-roading and impress the girls? '07-earlier torsion keys and rear blocks, crank the bars a little, and 32x11.50's on 15x8 wheels.

More serious off-roading? Body lift ($250+install), 33x12.50's, and a limited-slip if you don't have one.

More serious? Forget the body lift and get a Superlift lift kit ($1600+install) and a Powertrax No-Slip rear locker (about $350+install).

Desert running since you're in TX? Dixon Brothers long-travel suspension ($4500+install which will be a lot), wider fiberglass front fenders (required) and paint ($1500).

Show truck that won't go off-road? Superlift and body lift both, 35x12.50's on 15x10 wheels ('cause like, if you actually off-road a late-model with 35's you'll snap halfshafts and CV joints pretty quick).

So ive been looking around and i like the sas and lifted look of a ranger but my truck is still under warranty and i dont wanna screw that up how much does it usually cost to do a sas?

Depending on where you get the axle and how much work you can do yourself (no offense, but I gather that isn't much) I'd say $3000 to $6000 and a mess of fab work because the '98-up has that pesky problem of no front springs. railman is pulling your chain, besides which it is much much easier to do an SAS on a '97-earlier truck.

Just have a shop do a body lift (this will cause you to lose the front tow hooks), get the earlier torsion keys and blocks, buy some 33's and nice wheels, and call it good.
If you have $2000 burning a hole in your pocket then get the Superlift kit, the earlier torsion keys, have a shop install it, buy some 33's and nice wheels, and call it good.

i'm not pulling his chain.....i was telling the truth.....:D

he IS from Texas....they like their trucks tall with big tires....:icon_thumby:

with the post 98 SLA set-up....to get the big tires he wants, he has to do a SAS....or replace the front end every 6 months...

i have not a clue as to his personal fab skills, or lack of....:dunno:

if he is gonna pay to have someone do it.....anything will be big $$$$$.....

since it is still under warrenty.....do a body lift and a T-twist on it and grab some 33's....

Bottom line, if you want huge effin' tires, a late-model Ranger is the wrong truck. I'll tell that to anybody. I often do.

a lot of guys are running 35s on just a body lift and torsion twist now... and thats plenty of tire..

i am gonna do a body lift in the next few weeks and ive done the torsion twist ive got a friend who is gonna sell me a 94 ranger for 500 and i will be messing with that alot more than this one. im not bad as a welder i used to work in a welding shop at 17 so its nothing new to me. i started young.

the body lift is a must and i need to do it this month. i just need a lift to lift the body and it will be done.

sure and they should look good. body lift shouldnt be hard at all on a new truck like urs. get the gap guards also just for looks really tho

personally im not a fan of the black wheels unless they have chrome trim but be sure to get pictures once the parts start rolling in

put a 6" suspension lift and a 4" body lift on it, along side super swampers, an exocage and removable doors.

Followed by seeing what it would take to bottom it out =)
