Well, come to find out the rusting in the cylinders wasn't bad at all and it wiped away just fine. So we did the whole head gasket set and everything and put it all back together... best we could anyways. Come to find out my ranger was just out of gas.... My fuel gauge doesn't work so I played it by milage. I was at 25 miles since my last fill up... Or so I thought lol. So we put gas in it and get it started and running. Well it runs. But something isn't right about it. The vacuum lines need to be re-done as most of them are broken. But we put everything back together and I'd love to shoot whomever came up with the wiring design for this motor.... JUNK is my opinion as I couldn't remember exactly how it went back so it's just everywhere... looks like crap... So now I am just frustrated as I haven't heard it run in over a month so now that I have it running as good as I can get it right now, I've noticed a knock. I don't know if it was the same noise before. It had a noise before and everyone told me it was a lifter. But right now it sounds louder than that. Could it be that it's not timed just right? I know the vacuum lines have a play as it's getting too much fuel or it's burning oil... IDK... I just want it to run correctly now lol. Any and ALL suggestions welcome!
