I can still get you that cam and lifter set. It's the most aggressive cam you can run in a 2.9 without swapping to MAF.
+1, If you're planning on something like that, not going to MAF would be crazy - and it's not that expensive.

You COULD, but it would be pointless to mate an M90 to a 2.3 as 2.3 turbo manifolds are a dime a dozen.
I also would not boost a crate 2.9. If you wanted a supercharged 2.9, you would have needed to decide that BEFORE buying a motor. I would have gotten my hands on a good block, and called up Morana, then started from there. Since you already bought the motor - I'd buy a cam, springs, and read up here in the tech library about modding 2.9s. Just go with a mild build.
eh, MAF is a joke, there's nothing maf can do that MAP can't, even on forced induction.
fact of the matter is, if i have a good tune i only need the TPS and nothing else.
but beyond that, MAF is a bandaid solution to the problem of poor tuning, i've seen plenty of MAP based forced induction systems.
i gots a question. why would you buy a brand new 2.9 when you know how easy and cheap a 4.0 is for our trucks?
because a used 4.0 cost as much as a new 2.9 and i'd rather not use a junkyard engine.
A new 2.9 costs a few hundred bucks? Shoot!
by the time i'm done changing everything around to make a 4.0 fit and not break stuff, i'd spend more than 'a few hundred bucks'
I'll be doing it the supercharged way, since i've got a friend with an M90.
that said, what do i need to do on a zero mile motor to get it ready for a supercharger?
i'm not going to be running massive boost, just something to pep it up a little bit.
shooting for at least 220hp.
is that attainable? will it break the engine?
Well I figure you are spending more than a few hundred on a new 2.9?
