snorkel diy/kit

I recently hydro locked my motor and before I take it back offroad and through water I want to find or make a snorkel for the truck. It is a 1991 with a 2.9 motor, the only issue Im having is I cant run the pipes out the passenger side because of other modifications. does anybody know of a kit that I can modify or have tips on making their own?

Well how high do you need the snorkel to be?
You have a mechanic fan and a distributor

Cab high snorkel would look cool but engine would still stall with 6" under hood high water
Maybe a hood scoop facing back toward the cab

I ordered tubing and couplers from EBay or Amazon, plus a different filter housing from the junk yard and cobbled together my own design.

If you will drive thru water also install extended vent tubes on your differentials (and maybe transfer case?) to get them above the waterline.

Differentials build pressure in operation. That is due to how Extreme Pressure gear lube works - that is that skunky sulfer smell you get. So differentials have a pressure relief valve on them to dump the pressure so as not to blow out the seals.

Drive thru cool water and the diff. may decide to inhale rather than exhale. End result it sucks in water. Not good.

I had a new '79 FJ40 Toyota Landcruiser. Drove thru a creek maybe 2 feet deep. Next time I checked the fluid level in the diffs it was milky white meaning water contamination.

A PO had installed extended diff breather tubes on my FJ60. The front ends up high in the engine bay. The rear is high in a rear inner fender.

If you're gonna drive thru water, extend those diff breathers up high.

Mud boggers run the intake tube into the cab.

Or run it in between the fender and out.

Though I've been late doing it, yeah, breather tube extensions. Rear diff to go probably by fuel fill hose, front, I have xfr case, trans (iauto), and front diff, they can all go up in the engine bay. For manual trans breather is at bottom of shifter I think so no breather for them. Manual xfr case probably does have breather, I dunno. Doesn't cost much to do and worth it.
