so im looking into a snorkel for my 94 ranger what else should i do besides the snorkel to prepare the engine to be under water (mud)

not much, maybe coat the whole engine bay with some wd40 so it cleans up easy. Other than that, you don't have a distributor, so no need to water proof that. If your gonna be in water ALL the time, maybe invest in an electric fan so you can kill it when u get into deep water so it dosent throw water all over the place under the hood, and so you dont burn the clutch on the stock fan out.

Make sure your axle diff vent tubes, and transmission/transfer case vent tubes are up high, and working.

thanks for the info i dont think it will be under enough that i will need to change the fan but good to know and i totally forgot about the vent tubes thanks:icon_thumby:

buy a tube of di-electric grease and unplug & fill all your electrical connectors and spark plug wire boots, and regrease your spindle bearings(inside the spindle by the u-joint) often as they are one of the first casualties of water crossing and eat up the stub shaft in the process.

look in the cardomain site link in my siggy for my snorkle,i killed my first motor with the straw in the grill

hanks for the info i dont think it will be under enough that i will need to change the fan
When your rig goes in the water... the fan blades will hit the water and they can/often/will deform. That sends the blades into the radiator. That is bad news. Unless you can keep the fan above the water, or remove power to the fan, the rig is in danger of having this happen

lol just stay away from deep shit, its so much easier and less expensive.

Doesn't even have to be that high if your lettin it eat.
