Snap-on Inspection Camera. What to check with it?

So I'm having some sludge and oil pressure issues that I outlined in another thread. To try to get to the bottom of them without pulling the engine just yet I borrowed this awesome inspection camera from a friend: http://www1.snapon.com/23751/VideoInspectionScope/BK5500.nws

So far I intend to snake it under the valve-cover to check the top end for sludge and feed it up through the oil plug hole to check out the oil pump pickup screen. (if anyone can tell me where the pickup screen is in relation to the oil plug hole that would be awesome)

I'm also going to drain my transmission, take a look around in there and then fill it up with new fluid.

Anything else I should/could check while I have this thing?

Edit:

Here's what we have so far:
1. Valve-cover
2. Oil Pump
3. Transmission
4. Cylinders (via spark plug holes, thanks mn_smokeater)

sparkplug holes?

As long as you don't try a do it yourself colonoscopy you should be all right.

You may not see what your hoping too with that cheapy one. Borescoping for most takes some brain training for ultra tiny spaces. You will most likely see the pick-up screen ok but alot of other things will be unidentifiable to make sound judgment. You just cant manipulate your direction well with that one where as the ones i was trained with had micro-tendons and you could aim the tip remotely, of course they where $8,000 + bucks too. You should play with it in the house first, A fun test is to take a shoe box put the bottom part of an 12 egg container in it then put small random items ( dime, unshelled peanut, 1" piece of twine, watch batterie with #'s facing up ect.) in each spot, then poke a 1/2 in hole in the side of the box and go hunting and see what I mean. Note this is a fun beer drinking game with friends too and I have that same borescope, its probably been used more for non-automotive than for. Have fun cleaning the gunk off the tip everytime you run into somthing.:headbang:

oh god :icon_rofl: It crossed my mind when he said, stick it anywhere, but i sure wasn't going to say it!

Good news: the inside of my engine is shiny and clean. The sludge I got last time i changed the oil must just have been a result of the shitty napa oil filter failing. The oil pump pickup looked fine. Must just be a bad sending unit. I decided not to mess with the transmission just yet. Too damn hot out today.

The colonoscopy on the other hand didn't go so well.....

What I don't like about these cameras is they are not flexible enough at the camera head and the camera head is way too big.

The head on this model looks small enough, but can you bend that hose at a 90* immediately behind that camera?

glad i could help and thanks for the laugh

The actual colon part might be interesting. I just don't want to see it going in.

Or coming out.

Seriously, we get enough shit in our own lives. We really don't need to see whats in your shit too.
