94, 4.0. Son's truck was running bad, was checking it out and coil started smoking. OK, figure needs new coil pack. It smokes new pack in 60 seconds :bawling: , same 1-5 coil as old pack. I can see where some problems would smoke all three coils , but not one . Any specific areas to search for problems?
I have used the search function in both this forum and 4.0 forum.

Also, is the rubber piece where the filler neck goes into tank available seperatly? If so , where. Thanks for your help !!:icon_thumby:

Get new plugs and wires. Coils usually only do that if they can't discharge the high voltage from the secondary windings. Only way that can happen is if one of the plugs or wires is shot. Cheaper and easier to replace both than to guess and be wrong.

:yahoo: Found the problem. Where the wires run between the battery tray and fender by fuse box the wire for that coil wore thru and was grounding out. Tracking down Green Weinies is a P I A !! Thanks for your help, sorry I didn't get back sooner but I was without acess at home.
