smells rich and spits and sputters for a min then snaps out of it and runs fine

85 2.3 efi when it first starts it will idle fine but when you start driving around 2000 rpm it spits and sputters sounds almost like its missing for about 2 min then it snaps out of it and runs like a champ (you feel the power difference) but even after a 3 hour drive if you shut it off and start it back up it will do the same thing it smells like its running rich all the time also should i look at fuel or ignition

check fuel pressure at regulator.

havent checked it at the fpr yet but i checked it at the rail 40 on the dot how do you check it at the fpr

oh i was thinking you ment hook a gauge up ya i did that so gas smell

My truck has been doing this forever and I cannot find why.

Since it's EFI, did you try checking for codes?

nah not yet im in a small town with no auto parts store and the closest one is 2 hours away
