Smelled Hot And Check Engine Light Flashed

Hey Everyone I have a 94 B3000 2wd Ex Cab Auto,I was making a trip about 22 miles gradually up hill and when I started making hard climbs the truck smelled hot(but didnt register hot) and the check engine light flashed twice stayed on and then shut off any Idea what that could be ? I have been having cooling and being under powered issues with this truck since I bought it....

Perhaps you should tell us more about your previous issues.

Well I checked the Codes that were stored in the ECU .... So far I have codes 536(Brake on/off circuit failure) 538(invalid cylinder balance test due to throttle movement i wasn't touching anything in the truck) 117 (Temperature circuit below minimum voltage indicates above 245 degrees F) I am not sure what all of this means But this is what I found to be stored,the check engine light is not currently on.
