1998 Ranger. It has torsion bars. I was thinking about doing a small lift in the 1.5"-2" range. I know I can raise/lower the front via the torsion bars. I should also be able to get longer shackles for the rear leaf springs to raise the rear. This seems like a decent idea for a small and cheap lift. I know I can get 1.5" on the torsion bars...does anyone think I can get 2"? I know if I go much beyond that it can be problematic. If I were to go about lifting my truck in this manner should I first lift the front torsion bars to see how much I can lift it before buying shackles so that I can buy them accordingly? Also would I need a torsion key? I also forgot there are raising blocks for the rear as well. Would one be better than the other?

I'm kindof new to the whole lifting thing too but what I have read is that a torsion twist will get you up to 2.0 inch's of front lift and then you could do shackles in the rear if needed. Hope this helps..
Like I said I'm also new to the lift thing ,so read the tech forums and see what guys with lots more time under their rangers know...Ironman

Edit: don't forget longer shocks if you do the twist and get an alignment check.
