Ok heres a question i cant find an answer to thru searching....its probably a stupid one

Is it possible to slot and dimple your own stock rotors? Has anybody done it?
would it mess up the heat treating? would it make a difference?

any opinions welcomed

my opinion, WAY too much work for the benefits, but if you have alot of time on your hands and a shitload of drillbits, why not

Save your time and your money... Slotting and dimpling is only ever beneficial in cases of EXTREME brake use (like a car used strictly for racing). Buy quality pads and rotors and leave it at that... Unless you enjoy lots of brake NVH and wearing out pads every 10k miles. My 2 cents...

the reason i am considering it is after my body lift ill be running 35 12.5s possibly even 14.00s and seeings how i do alot of street driving i was thinking it might help a lil.....i have 33 12.5s now and noticed it takes a good bit more to stop than b4

it was just a thought

Yeah, all that rotating mass will make it more difficult to stop... Slotted or dimpled rotors would certainly help the cause, but like I said before, it's not a very cost effective option in my opinion. You'd be looking at 200-300 for rotors and 70 or so for good pads, and there's a very real possibility you could be changing both of those out once a year or more. Those rotors really chew up pads quickly. Ideally, a big brake kit that uses OE parts would be the best option. I did a little googling and didn't come up with much, except that someone might make a kit to fit mustang cobra 13" brakes on a ranger. And that also requires a cobra master cylinder and booster. Not to mention I think you'd need 17s or maybe even bigger for that too.

well hopefully the 8.8 im swapping with discs will help my cause as im kinda strectched for cash after buying the tires and wheels....thanks for your thoughts tho

You can get some cnc made drilled and slotted rotors with good pads off ebay for 120 shipped, both sides. Braking will increase a ton from stock. One of the best moves you can make IMO for braking.
