Slotted and drilled rotors

probably...but the brakes worked just fine. And I promise not to do it again

Knowing a couple of Sheriff's Deputies especially around these parts, often during an accident investigation I hear stories from these guys of "you wouldn't believe what this guy did", at least for liability & insurance reasons, don't do silly stuff because everyone is always looking to play the blame game.

Drilled & slotted you ask? For a 100Kmi brake job, the dealer wanted Big$$ to keep it OEM, which was important, OEM or better. Called Wilwood, 2/3rd's of the price, now 6 pistons on front & 4 on the rear, drilled & slotted for hwy 505 in Colorado. Where often you see fools pulled over with smoke coming off their wheels. Smoking their brakes (and other things Ha). Not only do the extra pistons give much more linearity in the application of the brakes, no more factory warped rotors at 20kmi. This is on my 2013 F150. What a difference. The shoes replace in 30 seconds! With the wheel off.

You would be entirely correct. I merely installed upgraded rotors. They made a big difference. Granted, you don't notice the difference when you just drive to the grocery store. For all "normal" purposes on a level road, the brake response feels the same. You barely notice in the rain, but I most certainly appreciated the upgrade hauling a half ton of rock.

I'm sure I will be very grateful someday when I have to make a panic stop. Every year or two someone does something crazy, like run a red light. I've had enough close calls already. Anything that reduces my stopping distance is well worth the price.

One of my friends who once owned a Ranger took mine out for a spin. He chose a quiet road and tried a panic stop. He noticed the difference right away. He liked them so much he went ahead and bought 4 cross drilled and slotted rotors for his car.

Maybe I should have gone one step further and bought uprated calipers. Perhaps some day I will. I definitely would have done it if I lived in Colorado.
