Hey thought I post up this project for you guys to look at.

I started this with my little cousin Johnny who happens to be 6'2" But he always wanted to make a go-kart and he didnt know how...
I remember when I was young and I always tried to get my dad to do projects like this with me and he never would. Seeing as johnnys dad is a loser and in prison right now I figured why not.

So here it is I only thought to take pics after I had rebuilt and did a lincoln locker mod and mounted the 6 speed craftsmen mower tranny.

The frame we used is from a late 70s mower

Still have to put the motor on and rig up some kind of clutch...oh and maybe a seatbelt

you should hav e dropped it...... it would have looked really cool and you would of have a lower center of gravity

+1 on dropping it. looks less like a go cart and more like a...mower with a jeep seat :D

fun none-the-less. you ought to leaf-blower supercharge the motor :icon_welder:

Lol yah the trail I was gonna right on was pretty flat but it did have some rough areas big roots and stuff so I needed the clearance...of course Ive moved before it was completed so now I dont know where I could use it maybe round the neighbor hood lol

if you put a reasonable muffler on it, and dont cause "problems", you could probably do that. its doesnt necissarily have to be street legal unless you want to drive it around in town. i think it'd be fun to lower it and zip back and forth up and down the block.

as long as it isnt an annoyance most people will look the other way.

I have a town house now so we got our own community everyones cool here. one neibor has a lotus elise and another has some buggy bout the size of a yaris looks like it would be fun off road and theres a few pocket rockets so it would be fine I guess.
I have a 12hp tecuseh motor for it kind of loud so I was gonna fab something up, got some 3" pipe and some fiberglass header wrap was gonna make my own glass pack lol

if it were me, i would get a small chambered muffler to be as quiet as can be. it wont cost much and it'll keep your neighbors happy. nothing more annoying than listening to a one-lunger screeming under high loads all day long :dunno:

but that doesnt mean you cant have fun with it. theres a guy on here that races lawn mowers and knows all kind of tuning tricks. making a tuned header, shaving the head, electric turbocharging, etc.
