I've got a noise anytime I try and pull steadily past 3k rpms, once I start passing 3k it makes what I would say is a slipping vibration sound/feeling, if I punch it and the revs jump past 3k it doesn't do it, only pulling past 3k in any gear. Any ideas?

Wag;
Torque converter or what controls the lockup for it.

That sounds like what I didn't want to hear, haha could you elaborate a bit on what you mean by "control for the lockup" and I can start there

I'm not a mechanic, just read a lot. There is something that controls the lockup. Maybe a solenoid or two? I'm wondering if the signal isn't getting to where it should. But I've never worked on transmissions, and electrical is definitely not my strong suit. I'm sure there are other members that can help when they see this thread...

I would just assume that it would throw a code for the converter or solenoid if that was the case, could be wrong I'm just trying to find out where I should start.

another Wild Assed Guess, really wild. like, thinking way out of the box wild.
when in neutral or park revving the engine is limited to 3k rpms to prevent damage to seals 'n other stuff in the transmission.
is it possible the computer is getting mixed up and purposely limiting revs??

a live diagnostic data stream would hopefully see what the tranny is being commanded to do.

It's not a limiter thing, like if I wanted to I could keep pushing it but it starts giving off a big vibration and a slipping noise but it will keep eating if I force feed it lol.. when passing cars I've punched it and I've had it up to 5000 rpm, so I think we can rule out the limiter, or how would the limiter act? Just simply won't let me go over 3k rpms? It very much feels like something let's loose and starts spinning faster than everything else after I creep past 3k.

I did just fix a 1st-2nd gear intermittent issue where it would hesitate inbetween the two gears if you are giving it any sort of gas other than just trying to roll into 2nd, this issue was fixed by doing a re learn back to base level trims disconnected the battery for 20 minutes, and magically fixed that.

How many kms on that truck/trans? You'd think with all the FLEET Sales of the trusty Ranger, FoMoCo would've put a better auto trans in there than the A4LD... :dntknw: durn.

I don't have the a4ld.. it's the 5r44e, 240k on the body and motor and trans have 80k less on them
