I had the clunk in the rear end of my 2000 Ford Ranger 4wd ,I was told here that it was possibly the u-joints or the slip joints. I replaced the u-joints, "spicer" and ordered a slip joint repair kit from Ford. $54 bucks for 2 hose clamps and a small tube of grease, looked like tooth paste,, didn't seem like a good deal at the time, but i followed the directions all the time thinking that this couldn't possibly work. Well it worked, nice and quiet ,Thanks. I still might install the James Duff traction bars just prevent this from happening again.

Might be a temporary fix if the joint has a lot of wear. But good fix for now!:yahoo:
