Do B series have a slave cylinder problem? I am one of three B series owners that I know who have bought used in the last 9 months and we are all having the same issue.

Can anyone tell me how difficult a job this is to change out or what cost might be?

Thanks.

You are talking about brake not clutch right?

clutch

I'm told you have to pull the tranny

Yep, it's inside the tranny. And you have to install it in proper order or you'll ruin both the slave and master (I think AutoZone has the guide up). If you don't have one of the new clutch lines (the new lines are really thin and have solid part and the old line is just a fat hose) I recommend a new line too. Also we're supposed to use ATF not motor oil like certain parts stores will tell you.

Oh and I paid my mechanic $300 to do it on his driveway over a couple of nights. I wish I'd met my next door neighbor sooner, he would do it for a case of beer LOL!

I had mine replaced in November and it sucked.

93 and up B series will be the same as the Ranger, that goes for slave cylinders as well.
It's inside the tranny, two 10mm bolts hold it on.
Around $90 for the part, and they take dot 3 brake fluid.
