So I guess if when you hook up your master and slave to bench bleed everything and the slave starts spurting fluid out around the rubber ring in the center it means your slave is shot. SON OF A B___________!!!!!!!!

I have never seen such a mickey mouse clutch release system in all my born days. I think they had better engineering in Yugos.

Now to top it all off of course I can't get that cockamaimee damn quick connect to release.

Wouldn't be so bad if I could run down to Autozone and just pick up a new slave... But noooooo I have to order it from USA as the Ford dealer here has NO parts for anything. Double SON OF A B______________!!!!!

Sorry I needed to vent someplace.

Sorry for your troubles- but if you use parts from vatozone, you are asking for even more trouble. Their parts suck. I always buy new factory parts and no more problems.

Panama......sorry to hear about the worthless/no-good/two-bit/tired/sorry-***/****-poorly-designed piece of dog-feces that you're dealing with....

there.....I hope I was able to help a little

Thanks DG... I know I am not the only person here to have a few expletive remarks about the lovely Ranger clutch system.

The engineer that came up with this idea should have been granted a lifetime HEAD UP ASS achievement award.

I concur. I replaced my master without knowing what I was doing. Once you put the push rod from the pedal into the master, there's no getting it out. What the heck happened to just locking it in with a pin with a c-clip or cotter pin? Oh, and bleeding it is so much fun too.

Yah the slave /throw out bearing was a WTF experience for me. Same with "quick connects" and the D35 front end. Geezus. The Ranger, as are all Fords, is designed to be easy and fast to assemble. Because Ford is interested in staying in business, their cars arent designed to be immortal. And no regard is given toward repair.

The job is a PITA to do. But you know what? Now that it is back together, the job would go much smoother if I had to do it again. The hard part was getting it apart. The slave , I think I got from US Auto Parts. on line. I try to stay out of dlrshps. It was about 40-50 bucks. I dont remember where it was made The good working slave I took out, as directed ,came from France. The truck has been trouble free. since , other than spitting out the Auto Zone rear U- Joint. About 3k miles . 15 of them in 4 wheel high. Maybe I'm being cheap, but I spent over a grand in parts getting the Rat road worthy. Had all of that been Ford parts, I'm sure it would be more.

Well the new Mustangs since '05' have gone to the hydraulic system, for better or worse. Just easier to fit hose in there than a cable.

Those aren't that bad. Take a flat blade screw driver, lay it between the pedal arm and the push rod and twist. They usually just pop off no problem.

I even had one just pop off while I was driving once. That was an F-550, but it was the same style clip.

Oh, you guys want to talk about bad hydraulic clutch setups. I could write a book on the issues with these ones.

No self-sealing quick connect, they are setup almost 100% identical to the FM145 slaves. A top-down unsealed line held in by a butterfly clip.

Oh yeah, did I mention the slave doesn't have a bleeder? A hydraulic system without a bleeder at the bottom.

WHO THE F THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD EFF'IN IDEA???

Probably the same engineer that received the lifetime HEAD UP ASS achievement award earlier today from me.
