ok pick one or the other, no V6,V8,Turbo stuff here plz.
im going hunting for an engine incase mine ever dies and ive think ive come with 2 choices.

1: 73-75 chysler slant 6, dual webers, headers, increased compression and mated to a 5 spd(m5od-r2 as these seem common, not sure how yet tho"

2:98-01 ford lima 2.5L either a weber and duraspark using an older head or turning the intake side sparkplugs into a direct gas injected engine. 95-96 exhaust manifolds an mabey a custon intake.

ok what engine would you pick and pros and cons of both.

slant 6:
pros: forged rods/crank from 1960-1975, extremly durable, unique and badass. fixes ranger lean, no timing belt that can break.

cons: long, heavy, possibly not as good MPG, but its been claimed to get 30mpg in a dodge duster with a 4 spd.

lima 2.5:
pros: common, good mpg, easy to install with lots of room left.
cons: stock crank/rod/pistons are cast iron.. its got a timing belt... not as much power.

either engine can be EFI or carb, im just block hunting right now... as for wiring, i plan on making my own harness with less wires.. engine will probly end up in a 1st gen swb 2wd lowered 2 inches thats been stripped down and rebuilt.

Do you understand how much fuel pressure is required for GDI?

yeah I don't think you could make a lima engine GDI

Then there's the whole issue of finding injectors that will fit in the spark plug holes...

just an idea, i'll probly use an old head with 4 plugs.

I say slant 6.

Aren't they like straight sixes, just slanted? why not just put a 4.9 in it then?

I would assume length. The slant 6 is unique, in that it has the water pump sitting off to the side, making it shorter.

plus \6 sit lower yet still have long stroke, making an engine that will fit better than a 300 ever could..

I would say slant 6 you have a lot better chance of getting it running right.Last a long time and the kinda power you need.

Now i'm really curious what kinda pressure GDI runs.

guess no one likes lima engines that much, well i think my mind is set, just need to go take some measurements now. anyone got a \6 they can measure for me?
