http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8788i just got a really good deal on a set of skyjacker 4" lift coils (thank you jrmustranger) but strangely enough they are giving me more like 5" of lift.
the 23 in xj coils i use smash to nothing in 160 trim on the ttb, maybe 3 in of lift, the 225 are better and supply @ 1 in more lift in the same situation....this should be @ 2 in more in your application. the 8 in are @ 275 and give an additional 1 in of lift...but are actually shorter then the 160 coils @ 1/2 in free length.
very soft. huge difference in trail performance with the ttb. iirc you and potts were behind me on the tight green run on the turtle hills, with regular ttb coils that would have flopped me all around and required frequent back ups with the long wheel base. these springs eliminate that, but its hell on the steering linkage.
i have used fullsize 150 coils for a 79 and they are better then the lift ttb coils by far but not as good as the xj coils. i have noticed most like the variable rate coils on the straight axles, i dont at all on the ttb...
it seems to make sense except for junkie and critter coming out even?(the first two)but one has cut and turn and the other runs a d44ttb-not exactly conventional.
ouch, sorry to be a dick. could go on for days on the suject of what lift to buy though, just keepin er on track.i did find out the 4" jackers are 480 ppi-way too stiff.and the 3.5 duffs are 17" free length(i checked today) which is the same as the 4"skyjackers and give more travel with their lower rate.better off with spacers under the duffs or raised buckets and 6" jackers to get 4"s i thinkOh, I was just basically cheering the post on. Not trying to jack the thread.
don't make me rush you over some stupid inter-q's and don't take the pics if its a bother, thanks though.my trucks track width from the outer edge of the tires is about 71" or a little more i think.Rick, my springs meassure 19 inches total, free lenth.sorry about that.
and a total of 13 complte loops and about one and half two inches left over. going from the bottom of the spring, from pig tail end to pig tail end.
Should have the front end back on the truck tonight, with the wheels on the ground, and Ill get you my track width from the outside to outside of the tire's,and messure the spring ride heigt.
Ill try getting a over all free lenth pic of the springs with a tape running along the side of them while I still have them out...
If you have any other question on the springs, feel free to ask, as they are not hard to pull back out at this time.
not much you're right.and with his 15x7's it should be almost full height (6") or yours a little lower i think.i did notice that a difference of about 2" or so track width(rim width) per side will make a half inch or more difference in ride height on my truck when going from 31's on 15x7's, to 33's on 15x10's.That shouldn't matter unless there's been a significant change in the axle's width (my D44 is basically D35-width).
