I'm getting ready to upgrade the suspension on my 88 ranger, and I'm trying to iron out the kinks.

I read in other posts that the stock driveshaft should handle a 6" lift much trouble. Does anyone have any differing opinion?

I wouldn't be using it for rock-crawling, the only off-roading would be mudding. With that in mind, is there any point in getting a class II Skyjacker instead of the class I, since I don't really need the extra flex?

What gear ratio would I have to run with 33" tires?

And the other, nagging question: How bad is this going to kill my fuel economy?

If your truck is a Supercab, you'll probably want to swap the rear 2-piece driveshaft out for a single-piece one. The front one should be fine though.

I'd go with the Class 1 kit if flex isn't important.

As for gear ratio (assuming 2.9L V6), go with 4.88:1. This will give you the best overall performance between power and MPG (expect around 21 or so if you have a stickshift).

Hope that helps.
