I've been gathering parts for my ranger build up for the past year and a half, and the truck as been sitting for a while now, but I try to make my way over and fire it up at the very least once a month. I don't drive it, I really cant, but I let it sit there and idle until it reaches operating temp, 5 to 10 min or so, and then I shut her down. It has a high idle but has had this before I parked it but that's neither here nor there. My slight concern is if letting it sit around like this will cause me to have any potential problems. Has anyone ever had a problem with a motor for letting it sit around to long? Will the gaskets deteriorate? Anything, or am I just being a negative Nancy?

Put some fuel stabilizer in the gas...stabil works good. Then let it run for a while to make it through the whole fuel system.

You can get water build-up from this. To prevent it, you need the oil fully warmed up, not just the coolant.

Gasoline should last a while because it's not vented like they were in the old days. And it is circulated through the fuel rail (regulated return system).

You could also plug the cat eventually, since you're never really cranking the exhaust heat up.

But I wouldn't worry about it too much. The biggest risk is rotting out the tires because they aren't moving.

Thanks for the input guys.
I didn't think it was that big of a deal, I just wasn't too sure about it. As for the cat, I do not have one so that's not a problem. I'll try to start it every other week if I can, Just to be sure. It shouldn't hurt leaving it idle for over 15, 20 min will it?
