I am trying to make a single 12" sub box for my ranger under the jump seats i have 2 12" subs but i want to do each box by its self, i have taken the measurements and i will still have an inch under my back seat with how my sub will sit but i am just wondering if i should do a wedge sub box then there would be more room underneath the seat. Can anyone help me out with this this has been bugging me for a while now.

bigger the box better the sound more air more air to move

okay. no.... no no no.

you need to make boxes to fit the air space requirements of the drivers. the size of the box, as long as it's in the range specified by the manufacturer, will give different sounds. i don't know the physics behind it, but bigger does not always equal better. please stop rambling on if you're giving out incomplete, misleading information.

to the OP
if you absolutely positively need the space, go with a smaller box. if i'm not mistaken, check up on it, you can put polyfill in a box that is slightly smaller (but i'd still stay in the suggested range of air space) and it will basically "trick" the sub into thinking it's a bigger box because the air can't move as quickly. i'm no pro when it comes to polyfill, so check into it first.

if you don't REALLY need the space, then just go with what would look the best maybe. if it looks better to have no gap between your sub box and the seat, then do it. if it looks better/performs better with a gab (perform meaning the seat and stuff... the seat will droop slightly with weight on it, so take that into account also. somebody may not want so much force on the box when they're sitting on it, it could be quite the butt massage)

i say think out all your options though. if the one you go with ends up a dud, then redo it. they are boxes under jumper seats, they are relatively small and easy to fab up. good luck OP

Thanks baxtej44 thats alot more helpful than one line and yeah i do need the space now like when ever i go to the mtb trails and there is 3 of us it sucks to have all 3 of us in the front seat

yeah man, np... i'm glad i could help. if it helps you, which it very well could, make your subwoofer "box" out of cardboard. basically you'd just be mocking it up, so that you can see how you like it. it'll just help with knowing how things fit and if you run into any bumps on the walls or floors, hitting any bolts anywhere, need to trim back any of the plastic trim, etc etc.

good luck man. take some pics.

i will when i get it done which at this point i dont know when it will get done got to much shit in my garage its not even funny. got to many projects on the go, like i have a 69 cadillac fleetwood brougham that i am trying to get rid of its still in mint condition but it has sat in my garage since 97, i got new stairs for in my house i gotta get installed still its been about a month and then i gotta fix my winch on my quad, i hate faulty parts this is the 3rd time this which has gone in a year.
