Since when?

um never ....... that guy is a crack smoker. his ford bashing is why i don't hang out on Pirate anymore.

i wonder if somebody swapped a ranger 8.8 into an ex to get the 'spring over lift' and this guy got that axle....

myself though, i have never heard or seen of an explorer only having 28 spline axle shafts.

It's a jeep tech thing.. you wouldn't understand...

The only thing that got me is he claims plenty of others on JU have run into 28 spline sploder 8.8s...

the sky aint blue either, sometimes its brown,
thats about as true as someone saying
a 28 Spline 8.8 came from a sploder, my mechanic told me the only way he could of got one is if it was swapped in before he got his hands on it.
31 Splines are all hes ever seen in Factory Sploders

over seas models maybe ...... or is the explorer for the U.S. market only?

and what does that have to do with this. It was one part for 28spline 8.8 and one part for a 31 spline 8.8. both exist, just not in the explorer.

The Explorer NEVER had a 28 spline axle in it from the factory. The ONLY way a 28 spline axle made it into an Explorer was if someone put it in there after it was manufactured.

That is one of the numerous reasons I no longer frequent Pirate; there are too many idiots that think they know it all.

Depends where you get their info from. Some mustangs had 28 spline axles and some had 31 spline. I believe it was all the Cobra cars that got the 31 spline.

I've never heard of a 28 spline factory Explorer 8.8. Mine is out of a 92-93 explorer and I've seen stripped one out of a 91 Explorer and it's been a 31 spline unit.

Jeepers must think that the only 31 spline axles are the disc brake ones.

If "YOU" don't pull it the yard could pass it off as an explorer axle. If you don't know the signs of an ex axle you won't know the difference unless you know what your looking for.
