Simple question-What's the best serpentine belt?

I heard you can use pantyhose as a belt.

Dayco is my #1 go to. Never had a problem, they usually last at least 5+ years. They also come with a 3 year warranty free replacement. Was worth it for me one time when the belt started to show a few cracks near the three year mark. The parts store replaced it no questions.

There is also nothing wrong with Gates, but where I am, they are not readily available.

There's got to be a story behind this bit of info.
Actually, its almost common knowledge. Probably works better with v-belt pulleys. But should still get you going in a pinch.

I think the more concerning question is not whether it works or where the idea came from.

But why anyone would have an old pair of pantyhose in your car?

She couldn’t find them at the end of the date.

I noticed a some minor checking on the belt and wonder what the best recommended belt is? I've always had good luck with a Gates premium type in the past on other cars. I live in a very hot climate that isn't kind to belts.

NAPA sells their version of the Gates Greenback belt. I've had one on my Lightning's accessory drive since 2013.
