So the other day at work, one of the Used Car dealers drops off a Blue 2003 4.0L Ranger Edge 4x4 at the tire shop I work at for an oil change and used vehicle inspection.

The truck has 112,xxx on the clock, not ONE scratch or dent ANYWHERE (this things is CLEAN...I'd eat off it, seriously I would...), and it runs extremely well, wouldn't run any better even if it was brand new. Its running 4.10's and L/S. The only things that "needed" done were Front Bearings and Front Pads....both of which were done at the dealer's expense.

There are only two things wrong with it....the Rear Axle seals leak a little bit (pretty minor though) and the CV shaft boot on the RF is torn. I could fix both problems in an afternoon easy.

I talked to the sales guy and they're asking $9,995 for it.

Should I try to snatch this up while they still have it? I could probably talk him down a little on price because of the rear seals and CV boot. (They just picked it up from the shop at like 5pm today....so nobody else has even gotten to look at it on the lot yet...)

I really want that truck :3gears:

id say go for it sounds like a nice gas saver/ hot rod

Yea that seems like a pretty good deal.

KBB says for private party its worth about $8500, good luck finding a truck like that for that cheap tho, if you can Jew them down $500 id say its a damn good deal

those are two words that I wouldn't use in the same sentence... lol.

I'm just wondering how it got so many miles? Price seems a bit steep to me for something with that high a mileage, but if you think it's a good deal, go for it... $8500 sounds more reasonable to me.

id find something with less miles and if possible a better package!

matt i depends on the dealer. call me and i can fill you in on local dealers

I'd say go for it, sounds like you really like this truck..

Jeff

Brian, I'll probably call you sometime soon.

Hihoslvr, its got mostly highway miles. I'm not too worried about the mileage, though. It runs very strong and extremely smooth. Any way I slice it....its definitely an upgrade over my '96 4.0

right on jus' wonderin', didn't sound like a pizza delivery truck. :taunt:

haha

Nah, I saw the carfax report on it, even. Dealer left it on the dash when I drove it into the garage at work. Clean history, two owners. First guy only had it for about a year, then the second has had it since mid-'04.

Gonna be asking the bank about a loan on monday, assuming I can pull myself out of bed....but hey, a new Ranger is worth it :icon_thumby:

lol, for them to "fix it themselves" theyd be bringing it into my work again and I'd end up doing it myself anyway. Only I'd be on the clock and getting paid for it....haha
