hey guys. i got to thinking of selling the bronco. i seen an add on my local classifieds for a wanted '70s ford truck. so i emailed him an told him im rebuilding the 351M so when i get her back together id sell her for $700. so he emailed me back and seemed interested so i told him all the details about her. and he replied to me and told me hes very interested. so when i get the motor done an get her running hes gonna come out and look at her.
i dont really wanna sell her, but im 15 and havent had a job in almost a year and probably wont have one anytime soon so i got no money an im currently building a 88 ranger from the ground up (d35, 8.8, 5spd swap, cab swap) and im sure shes gonna need some money. i love the damn bronco, shes the best truck i ever had out of all 9 of them. but i need to start getting rid of some trucks and need some money. if i got rid of this truck, id be looking for a 73-77 ford 4x4 truck to build later on. but i need to finish the ranger first.
so what do you guys think, is she worth $700? the inner rocker panels are gone, drivers floor is gone, the rear floor is rusted out, quarter panels got some shitty body work by the previous owner, its a 79 ranger XLT 351M, c6, np205, posi rear, l/s front. im not sure if she would pass inspection or not.

im afraid if i sold it id never get another one. these broncos are rare as hell here. i asked around alot and theres only 3 know 78-79 broncos in my whole province including mine and one of them was scrapped and i got most of the parts from her. so it wont be easy to get another one. and the pickups are almost as rare.

if u really need the money and the guy gives what ur asking do it. but make sure u finish that Ranger.
if he offers u less dont sell it.

i don't know what the market is like there,but on this side of the country you could get more than 700 for just the axles.unless you are real desperate for cash,i'd hang on to it.

yea i think i might. thanks guys

I would actually SELL. Be HONEST with yourself, by the time you replace the rusted components you listed,(and who know what else could break during that time) 700 does sound good.

I look at this bronco as an investment. The question is are you at the point, where you cannot get a return on your investment. This truck is not show quality, and I've seen some ridiculous prices for "show" trucks....they never sell and you see them every week in the classifieds, overpriced old vehicles.

I see two choices;

1. invest in the truck, but then drive the truck until you get your "monies worth" from your investment and then sell, assuming that nothing else breaks.

2. Don't put any money in the truck and sell high.

It all depends if your at the point of diminishing returns.

For a rusted out beat down old bronco $700 isn't bad... more than I would pay anyway. Down here you would would be hard pressed to get a higher offer unless you fixed all the rust and gave it a real paint job. A beater rig demands a beater price.

As for the axles, parts are always worth more than the whole. A brand new F-150 off the lot is worth more for parts than it is as a truck.

man thats a really good point. i think if i dont sell her for 700 now.. someday ill probably regret it. but i really wanna keep her and get her lisenced for the road next year when i get my beginners. she dont need a whole lot just some minor stuff like gas guage, drivers side signal light, 1 new wiper, ball joint which i have. i dont wanna spend a whole lot of money on her to make out a show truck i just want to make a resonable DD out of her and i do think its possible for under 3-400 and some fabrication skills

I would think about possibly holding on to something and seeing it through. The experience of building and owning something long term is worth way more the the cash.
