I just got new 4:88 gears for my 8.8 and D35. I was wondering if any of you guys would recomend putting in a lunch box locker in the front? Any input would be nice.:icon_welder:

A selectable/ lunchbox locker, sure. But I think you would have to be somewhat nice to it with 33's, but you only have a 2.3L also, so that cuts back on the risk of breaking stuff alittle.

What ever you do, DO NOT weld the front. My Ranger has a tighter turning radius that Derek's LJ. I'm open front and rear, and he's welded front and rear.

A ratcheting locker is only slightly better than welding it.

I think you would be better off getting a locker for the rear, but that is just my opinion. Limited slips are just that, they only LIMIT the slip and are not super effective on the trail in my opinion.

Do it. Lockers are the shit. I found my Lock-Right used on on eBay from a Jeep for $175 ish shipped to me.

my dad was going to give me his lunch box locker out of his yj that has a dana 35 in the rear. i have over hauled my limited slip and put the carbon fiber clutch packs in it and i can chirp the tires on the road. :icon_welder:

The D35 rear... I'm not sure if it matters what year or not. I know I've seen somebody else give specific info on it on here. I just bought mine off eBay and threw it in. I think the instructions that came with it were for installing in a 94 (ish) Grand Cherokee.

If you can't find any info on here, check part #s at Summit across the years to see if they are any different. It was definitely worth it, that sure beat $300 for a new one.

Yea thats not a bad price.I think i am going to put it in when i get it regeared. Whenever that mite be:annoyed:. hopefuly it will improve the drivability of my ranger.

I say do it. I would get a replacement springset for the locker, they are cheap, and it's easier to do it now, than when it starts ratcheting all the time.

As for the D35 vs. D35, IIRC there is a ratio split on the carrier of the jeep rear d35, but not on the ttb front. But as far as a lunchbox locker goes, I don't think the carrier difference on the jeep dictates what locker goes in. (they're both the same locker)

And yeah, the suburban with trailer has a better turning radius than the LJ with the welded front. :icon_rofl: But it was cheap and easy, and it's a trail only rig.

yea thanks i will look into it. my dad bought it used so i should probly do it.

Wait, you already bought the locker?
From what I gathered, you were looking at them.

That is what I gathered form everything.

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed a post...
