Should I do it?

Should I do it? Got it running today. Not sure if it's a cracked head or head gasket. Blows radiator fluid out of exhaust. Everything felt real tight when I test drove it. Tranny feels good, automatic. Shifts into 4 and felt good. Had a hard time shifting it out. Felt a little stiff that way. Is there a trick in taking it out of 4 wheel drive? It's down to 500.

I also have new heads in the garage.

i would, just for the solid body...but then again,i guess rust isn't such a issue where you are.

My thoughts exactly...If you have the 500 bucks and are willing to put the work into it, why not?

DO IT!!!!!

wait....

do what.....

i did'nt read the first post yet...

I red it.......

do it!

I wouldn't touch it.

The ad says:

Body Straight, Interior great. Designer Rims with newer tires. If you have the time it cost $150 and about 2 hours to fix. Everything else great

If it's vomiting coolant out the tail pipe, and then possible Transmission and 4X4 issues?

The body may be clean, but it sure sounds like a big headache you'd be getting into.

I'd offer him $300 since he was misleading about the ad.

If it's a mechanically shifted transfer case, then just adjust and lube the linkage. As to the engine that's up to you. Assuming the engine turns out to be a hopeless case, are you willing to add in the price and labor involved with swapping it out?

An engine swap would be a lot quicker than doing the heads. I've done one in a ranger with manual but this one has automatic. Not sure how much more work is involved with the tranny? It's manual shift 4x and it was tight shifting out. This rig has never been off road. The add was a typo. It was supposed to say 1500$ for the repair which is what they were quoted. Not sure who thought it would be two hours of work? They had a neighbor that was going to do it for them but changed his mind. Maybe he's the one that said two hours?

I found the cleanest 2.9L at the junkyard. Sad how quickly some of the sensors and stuff were pulled off of it. There isn't a spot of oil on it or in the engine bay. Thinking of pulling it next weekend.

Just need to find someone that has a trailer so I can get the B2 back home. It leaked radiator fluid so fast I don't want to drive it anywhere.

It's not a typo, it's called "Bait and Switch"

I've flipped many many MANY cars, a $150 quote is Bang-On for a shop to do a 2 hour job. I still think this sounds like a crazy moneypit...

How far do you have to go? If you're not too far and are pulling the motor anyway, who gives 2 shits if leaks?
