i just bought a 89 bronco ii with a 4" suspension lift and a 3" body lift with 33x12.50 what are the best gears for me to use i plan on using this as a day to day truck and a weekend warrior.

if you plan on highway driving, you might want a higher gear, i have a 3" lift with 31"s and im re-gearing to 4.10's

4.88 should be a good gear for that.

I have 5.13s and 35x12.50s on mine (same overall ratio) and it's just about perfect for the 2.9L.

Did you get a black one with the simulated bead lock rims??? I saw one for sale

i LOVE 4.56's for 33's BUT i have the 4.0..
w/ the 2.9 i'd suggest 4.88's probably. yep.
don't be scared of gear!

welcome!

just finished swapping to 4.10's, 2.9 with 31's, now i can easily cruise down the highway at 65-70 at around 2800rpm.

i really like my 4.10's with 33's and a 4.0.You have to decide how much time you spend going 70 or what ever figure out the RPM's you would be doing at that speed and decide where you want your RPM's to be exactly.

i figured it up... at 65 i'm turning about 400 more RPMs than you.. and i have 4.56's. (assuming we both have auto's.. guess its the same if we both had manuals to, i have an auto tho lol).

IMO the 400 RPMs at 65 MPH is totally worth it for the low end gain i have over 4.10's. i actually threw an 8.8 w/ 4.10's in it under my b2 one day just for curiosity, and i'm glad i went w/ 4.56's :yahoo:

but just b/c i like it, doesn't mean you would. :icon_thumby:

google grim jeeper calculator.. and you can figure up w/ RPMs you're at when traveling at different speeds. they have our transmissions and t/case listed.

also it helped when i replaced my locked up fan clutch.

thanks every one i think ill go with 4.10s and give it the summer to see how it works

4.10 isn't even close to enough gear for those tires with a 2.9L.
