Short box conversion

The frames are different. Changing the box size would require cutting the frame and possibly moving the rear axle a few inches closer to the cab. So you would also need a new driveshaft.

I found that out the hard way.....
When i was in highschool, I wrecked my first ranger and needed a new bed. I was so stupid that i thought there was only ONE size of beds..... My truck was a long bed and i bought a short bed.....
I said screw it and still threw it on. I just had it sit a few inches from the cab, but the frame stuck out a few inches from the back. i know that i have some pictures around here somewhere..... THIS TRUCK WAS THE ULTIMATE DANGER-RANGER...lol
