1994 B4000 200,000 miles , Could shocks cause my front end to skip across the road when encountering rough areas(minor pot holes) on the road. Sometimes I also hear a metal clank when the truck bounces over these rough areas. The front end and steering parts seem to be ok with little play in the steering. Thanks, Charlie

it could be and most likely it is time for new shocks, but while your under there check all the balljoint, tie rod ends and swaybar end links for the metal clunk your hearing.

Just read about this issue with the shocks. That clunk could well be the noise generated when a weak shock bottoms out. Had that happen to me before on a 1960 Nash Metropolitan that I rebuilt.
