I was about to put new rear shocks on my '89 Super cab 2wd and notice the upper shock mount is completely rusted away from one rivet and the top is actually twisted. Basically it's shot.
It looks like I should be able to grind out the rivets and install another. So where do you get another? Does anyone sell them new? Or I'll just go to the junk yard and look for another? If that is the case what years would be the same? Mine is the 10MM shock bolt so would that mean only pre-'89 Ranger mounts would be the same? On the rear suspension I also notice the rear springs are fairly flat and the ends of the leaves have no contact with the next spring. It looks like these are shot as well? I guess the previous owner hauled a lot with it as the bed shows dents made by heavy objects.
This is my beater truck I bought and revived two years ago. I've grown attached to it as it keeps the wear and tear of everyday driving off my F-250 so I plan on keeping it but not sinking any serious money into it. So if I go to the "U-pull-it" what models of Rangers will have spings that will be a straight swap?
Thanks!
