I have a 1994 ford ranger currently has rear shackles and 2" lift spacers up front with stock size Monroe shocks. I will be getting rough country 2" lift springs and a 1" spacer under them, and making a bastard leaf spring pack to gain another inch in the rear.

So now that you have the story, are there any OE replacement options (ie. F150/250 etc) that would give me more travel and fit the original ranger mounts for cheaper than a set of lift shocks. I do a lot of highway driving and some off roading so if it is off a vehicle with heavier gvw I know it will rides little rougher.

Thanks for the help in advance.

i hope you are planning an alignment too. why not just order a shock for a ranger for a 2 inch lift

Because "lift" shocks are more expensive than finding an oem replacement.

Measure the lengths at full compression and drop. Then ask the kid at the parts store to bring you the shock catalog and find whatever is the closest fit. Write down a few different part numbers and pick the cheapest one.

another idea....go to summit and look up shocks for your lift....then look up the other applications for the same shock and find one that says no lift.....then go buy stock shocks for that vehicle.

I Will I work at a dealer as a technician, have access to the rack for personal endeavors after work.:icon_welder:

And thanks ill see if i can find a pdf from some manufactures that has specs.

Also i wonder if you use bolt on spacers from the hub if the extra leverage would help correct camber as far as doing a lift without lift brackets. (and yes i know the down falls of the spacers and possible increased wear on bearings)

sweet i will have to compare my findings to factory replacements on that chart

REAR: monroe 32239
FRONT: monroe 32075

both run about 20 dollars a peice on rock auto, your milage may vary. I used their part number interchange to interchange rancho/rough country 2.5'' lift shocks with oe type shocks. Came up with a 91 E250 for front shocks and 2004 F-450/550 for rear, I will compare and if it seems right order them and post results.

Yes, maybe ,maybe not....we shall see.

My truck is my daily driver and sees dirt and mud once in a while, I know the valving is different and I don't expect them to last a long time, but I would like to take advantage of some added travel and on a budget. This might not be the solution to your needs but for now it will fit mine and If they last and also my suspension to travel an extra 2 inches over factory shocks then it would have made me happy.

I would love to buy a 4" rough country lift or a skyjacker but right now I don't have the funds to buy it. So its not the best way to do it but it is a way. I'll post results for everyone after installed and hopefully follow up, mounting specs seem to match up with the mentioned shocks as well as 3" gained expanded and compressed lengths.

Maybe a modified shock mount might be in order for longer shocks for more travel I guess ill cross that bridge when i get there this is just a big experiment for my cheap ass lol.
