Hey all,

When my truck (99 B2500) is still cold, like right after I take off, the first ten shifts or so are very smooth, like I would expect. But after the truck warms up a bit, probably after about 15 shifts, it becomes noticeably more difficult to shift. It's not impossible to shift, but it is not nearly as smooth. Also, the clutch does not seem to release as smoothly after it is warmed up - ie. after I shift and I release the clutch pedal, sometimes I'll get a little "thunk" instead of a smooth release.

The clutch system is not losing any fluid, as I've been checking it for about a month or so and I haven't lost any. Is this the sign of a warn pressure plate or friction disc? Syncros? Bad fluid within the system (maybe it just needs bled to get the old fluid out?) ?

Thanks. All help is appreciated

Fluid Change

How many miles on your truck? If its a 99 and has not been serviced yet, IT IS TIME. Get yourself 3 QTS of a good Mercon or MerconV rated ATF and change it out. It really only takes a very little time. Even if this does NOT fix the problem, it isn't money wasted.
