Shifter woes

I've got a 2000 Ranger 3.0 with a five speed, and now that its getting warmer out, when shifting, sometimes the the shifter knob comes off in my hand, very annoying! Anyway, does the whole stick need to be replaced, or is there a way to just replace the knob with one that'll stay on in warm weather. When the knob is off, I don't see any threads where just the knob can be replaced, just a splined end that the knob slides onto. Any help would be appreciated!

u can just replace the knob
some glue might help tho.

any good epoxy will keep it on there. don't forget that if you ever need to remove the shifter, you'll probably have to break something to get that knob off. most likely it will be one or more of your fingers.

Fix it back on with hot glue, If you ever need to remove it you just have to heat it and it will come off without breaking anything.

I like black electrical tape. Wrap it around a few times and it takes up some slack, a bushing if you will... Push it back down and your good to go. If you ever need to get it back off, just pull up on it real hard.
