I apologize if this is the wrong section, but it seemed valid for more than one. I have a 93 Ranger 4x4 Automatic. When the previous owner put the new tranny in it, instead of taking the shift cable to the column, where the bracket has rusted off. Instead, he just drilled a hole in the floor and ran the cable through it.

It shifts great and works, but it is held in place by vice grips. I am wanting to know if there is a preferred generic floor shifter so that I don't have to get a new steering column.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a pic for clarification:

have you considered getting a junkyrd steering column/shifter cable?

Stock parts are usually the easiest solution to any problem...
