shifter problem

Hey guy i have a shifter problem in my 93 ranger. It has a 3.0l in it with a 5 speed. I was having shifter problem it was getting stuck in second gear, so i went to ford and ordered a new shift lever it was like 100 bucks. well i ordered the bushing kit off ebay and the installed the new lever and all the gear worked fine except 3rd and 4th. I can almost never get the truck into 3rd gear and 4th gear goes in but you can move the shiter up and down a lot. it almost feel like the shifter isnt sitting down all the way into the transmission. Any suggestions?

Are the shifter pins in the housing broken? Did you replace both bushings or just the top one? You might also have internal transmission problems

i replaced both bushing and both pins the transmission shifter fine before it would get stuck in second gear. i can get it into third sometimes i have to push down on the shifter and kinda jerk the shifter in gear. thats why i dont think its sitting down all the way

Does it move smoothly with the engine off? The shifter should have no up and down movement at all with fresh bushings

it moves the same with the engine off i could take a video if that would help?

A video would help. You might want to pull the shifter back out and try to see if there is anything obvious.

Heres the video I was able to get it into third gear but as you can see I have to push down and kinda Jerk it into gear. But you can see how much play the shifter has and that's only in 3 and 4 gear

being only in 3-4 i'd have to say that is a broken roll pin/shift fork inside the transmission.

the trans will have to come out and the top cover removed to access the parts

Thats weird I don't know how this would happen because all the gears worked fine but it just keeper getting stuck in second gear. Replaced the shifter and the the third works sometimes an has that play but 4th works all the time?
