hey guys, i dont know if this is just simple basic easy stuff or not but if any one could school me a little bit on how to properly set up the shift links for a bw 1350 it would be greatly appreciated.

here is the skinny, i swapped in a bw 1350 into my 98 4.0L 5speed, the donor truck was a 83-86 ranger i believe, ( jy ) i grabbed all the components but the distance was too long and it wouldnt shift, so i modified it by welding a longer sleeve between the bolt where the shift arm secures to the transmission and the lever that actuates on the Tcase. BUT i dont feel that i am getting a clean shift from 2H-4H-N-4L, so i am thinking of scrapping my jimmyrigged set up and building a clean proper working one.

The problem is i dont have the knowledge on how they work (besides looking and sorta understanding the concepts) i want it to be dependable and able to take a beating. it is my DD and play rig.
Plus the fact i have a dana 30 up front means the front end is always engaged, so i defiantly want something that will easily pop and stay into 2H with no chances of any teeth still contacting.

so basically what im asking is if anyone can shoot me to a proper and well written write ups on it. i have checked on here and it aint working for me.

Thanks in advance TRS guys:icon_thumby:

to adjust the linkage/gate simply shift the case into 4hi (there's a detent to hold it there) then loosen the adjustment bolt and set the gate so that the lever to the right side against that stop while at the detent then tighten the adjustment bolt, done.

thats my problem, it was 2 inches too short, so i cut and welded a piece of steel in there to work for the last couple months.. it doesnt fully engage into 2H unless i get underneath and and push it all the way back up into place, then 4L is a bitch. so i want to build a new one from scratch
