I hope this is an easy question for experienced manual transmission experts. I have a 2002 Ranger XLT regular cab 2.3 four cylinder engine five speed transmission. I need to replace the rubber boot on my shifter. Any help would be appreciated.

The shaft the knob is on is just splined. I think they use some kind of glue on it. Mine pulled off with a little bit of effort. If that doesn't work, heat the shaft a little til the knob comes off.

Yep just pull. Heating it a bit is a good idea too if it doesn't pop off right away. Worst case scenario...break it off and replace it with a nice looking one from your parts store.

Ok well that will solve my problems just pull really hard. Thanks alot..
